Introductions of our main Business
We have long served as a broker-dealer that “connects funds” in both the interbank market, in which financial institutions participate, and the open market, which includes general corporations and other entities.
On the business side, we handle a wide range of products, including call transactions, bond repo transactions, commercial paper (CP) transactions, treasury discount bill (T-Bill) transactions, and the sale of investment trusts, while striving to ensure the stable execution of accurate and prompt administrative processing. In addition, we are involved in operating the “Money Market Transaction Confirmation System,” which forms part of the market infrastructure.
Our domestic and overseas group companies also provide intermediation services for financial market transactions.
Interbank Business Division
Call Market
There are both collateralized and uncollateralized call transactions. The former are mainly conducted in a dealing format, in which we act as the counterparty, while the latter are primarily conducted in a broking format, whereby we intermediate transactions between clients. In addition to providing deep two-way prices (offers and bids), we also deliver high-quality market information obtained on the front lines of the market.
Furthermore, we are qualified to participate in auctions for the Bank of Japan’s fund-provisioning operations against pooled collateral and other facilities, and we also submit bids on behalf of clients under entrustment.
Markets Division
Bond Repo
We handle both securities lending and borrowing transactions with cash collateral, and repurchase agreement (repo) transactions, mainly involving the exchange of Japanese Government Bonds (JGBs) and cash. Transaction types include those that meet borrowing needs for specific issues, as well as those that address funding needs by lending out multiple issues. We also handle transactions in which we borrow JGBs on an unsecured basis by paying a lending fee. In all of these, transactions are primarily conducted in a dealing format, with our firm acting as the counterparty.
As we are a participant in the Japan Securities Clearing Corporation (JSCC), clients who are also JSCC participants can clear their transactions with us through JSCC.
Treasury Discount Bills
We actively engage in both outright and repurchase (repo) transactions of Treasury Discount Bills (T-Bills), which are considered safe assets, and we respond to a wide range of client needs in terms of transaction amounts, maturities, and other conditions. In addition, as a participant in public auctions, we also submit bids on behalf of clients under entrustment.
Commercial Paper
CP (commercial paper) is a flexible funding tool with maturities of less than one year for issuers, while for investors it is one of the attractive short-term investment products. Against the backdrop of more sophisticated cash management and the advancement of electronic settlement, the number of market participants has been growing. In this environment, we mediate between the needs of both issuers and investors from a neutral standpoint.
Certificates of Deposit
CDs are negotiable time deposits. We purchase newly issued CDs from issuing banks and engage in secondary trading with financial institutions, corporations, and other investors.
Securities Business Division
Equity Repo
We mainly handle stock lending and borrowing transactions with cash collateral. Transaction types include those conducted for funding purposes without specifying particular stock issues, as well as those that involve specific designated stock issues.
Investment Trust Sales
We mainly distribute “privately placed investment trusts for qualified institutional investors” to professional investors such as banks, securities firms, and insurance companies.
In addition to managing traditional assets such as domestic and overseas bonds and equities, we are also able to structure products using specialized and sophisticated investment techniques, as well as customize strategies to meet individual client needs.
Group Business
We have group companies both in Japan and overseas that engage in the intermediation of financial transactions and related activities.
In Japan, our group provides intermediation services for foreign exchange transactions, foreign currency funding transactions, and Japanese government bond transactions, as well as foreign exchange margin trading services for individual investors.
Overseas, in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Indonesia, our group companies intermediate foreign exchange transactions, money market transactions, bond transactions, derivative transactions, and other financial products. By leveraging a financial market transaction network built through close collaboration with these domestic and overseas group companies, we are able to respond to a wide range of transaction needs.
