A tanshi company is a specialized firm that intermediates funds between financial institutions in the “short-term money market,” where funds with maturities of generally less than one year and short-term financial instruments are traded. Specifically, in addition to brokering the lending and borrowing of funds in the call market, it supports efficient funding and investment by market participants through repo transactions secured by government bonds and other securities, as well as through the buying and selling of commercial paper (CP) issued by corporations.

We are also a counterparty for current account transactions with the Bank of Japan and have been selected as an eligible institution for its market operations.
